The USAWKF and USANTCCF are proud to announce the 1st National Wushu Instructors and Judges Courses (NWIJC). These seminars, the first of their kind in the United States, will establish the guidelines for the next generation of instruction and judging of wushu (both traditional and contemporary) in this country.
The 1st NWIJC will take place from July 31st to August 7th, 2005, at the Quality Inn in Vernon, Connecticut. The first part of the course will teach wushu theory and forms and will be adequate for those seeking instructor certification only. Judges must take this part of the course plus the second part, which will cover judging rules and regulations.
The courses will be led by Professor Qiu Pixiang, director of the wushu department of the Shanghai Sports Institute (Shanghai Tiyu Xueyuan), and Professor Zhu Ruiqi, director of the wushu department at the Beijing Sports University (Beijing Tiyu Daxue). Professors Qiu and Zhu are at the very top of their field, frequently directing large international wushu instructors and judges seminars and competitions. World-class instructors will also assist in teaching all classes. We hope to see you there!

Fee includes: Training, testing, study materials, one double room and board (3 meals per day) at hotel, welcome and farewell banquets. Individuals desiring a single room may do so if rooms are available for an additional $180 for those enrolled in the instructors course only and $300 for those enrolled in both courses.
Individuals passing the instructors course will be certified by the USAWKF and USANTCCF as national instructors. Individuals passing the judges course will be certified by the USAWKF and USANTCCF as nationally certified instructors and judges.
Maximum number of applicants: 60. Registration deadline: June 30, 2005.
REQUIREMENTS:
Instructors (1) All applicants in the wushu/kung fu/sanshou instructor training course must be a members in good standing of the USAWKF when registering for the course and during the entire duration of the course.
(2) All applicants in the Tai Chi Instructor course, must be a members in good standing of the USANTCCF when registering for the course and during the entire duration of the course.
(3) Must be between 20 and 70 years of age, inclusive.
(4) Must have experience in wushu/kung fu, including one or more of the following:
(a) Coach or assistant coach at an wushu (kung fu, tai chi, sanshou, etc.) school, (b) achieved at a least third place finish in an advanced event at a USAWKF- and/or USANTCCF-recognized national or international tournament (must show proof of result(s)).
(5) If a active coach or student (competitor, etc.) at a school (but not school owner), must have a reference from that school's owner or head coach recommending him or her for this course.
(6) Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency status in the U.S. (green card).
(7) Must pass a skills test (one barehand routine and one apparatus routine, or one barehand routine for sanda instructors) and a written test at the end of the course.
Judges (1) All applicants in the Judges Training Course, must be a members in good standing of the USAWKF when registering for the course and during the entire duration of the course.
(2) Must be between 25 and 65 years of age, inclusive.
(3) Must have experience in wushu, including one or more of the following:
(a) Coach or assistant coach at an wushu (kung fu, tai chi, sanshou, etc.) school, (b) achieved at a least third place finish in an advanced event at an national or international tournament (must show proof of result(s)), (c) judged competitions at a USAWKF- and/or USANTCCF-recognized national or international tournament (must show proof of such).
(4) If an active coach or student (competitor, etc.) at a school (but not school owner), must have a reference from that school's owner or head coach recommending him or her for this course.
(5) Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency status (green card)in the U.S..
(6) Must pass skills test (one barehand routine and one apparatus routine, or one barehand routine for sanda judges), a written test, an oral test, and a test of live judging.
