The Russian Wushu Federation, which won the bid to host the 8th World Wushu Championships (WWC) during the IWUF Congress in Macau has decided to withdraw from hosting the event. The federation was advised by their government to withdraw for security reasons. The RWF informed the IWUF of the above decision in October, 2004.

The Vietnam Wushu Federation and the French Wushu Federation submitted the bid to host the event. The IWUF Executive Committee meeting held in November 22, 2004 in Yangon, Myanmar has awarded the Vietnam Wushu Federation to be the next host. Due to East Asian Games, South East Asian Games which are scheduled in the fall, the Vietnam Wushu Federation has tentatively scheduled the 8th WWC to be held beginning December 8th, 2005.

The USAWKF will update our members when we receive additional information from the Vietnamese Organizing Committee regarding the 8th WWC.
