2005 U.S. Wushu Team
2005 US National Taolu Team Trial Results

The USAWKF has successfully conducted 2005 US National Taolu Team Trials in South Windsor, Connecticut on August 6th & 7th. A total of 76 athletes from all across the United States competed fiercely for the honor of representing the US in the upcoming 8th World Wushu Championships (8th WWC). This national team trial is commonly viewed as the highest level of contemporary Wushu competition in the United States.

The new IWUF rules are used for the first time in the US, which created some challenge for the athletes, coaches and the USAWKF organizing committee as well. The Taolu Committee has worked really hard to make sure that the athletes' registration forms are completed correctly, and assisted the athletes with the degree of difficulty forms. Their tireless efforts have helped the smooth running of the trials.

Congratulations to all the athletes on their outstanding achievements! The A-Team members will represent the United States to compete in the 8th WWC. The A & B Teams will both compete in the 6th Pan American Wushu Championships, which will be held in Toronto, Canada in 2006. The C-Team members will be substitutes when vacancy is available in the above events.

The final results listed above have two corrections from the results announced in Connecticut. This was due to mistakes made in the additions of the total scores of two athletes. After the findings, their scores and rankings have been adjusted accordingly: Chin-Yin Lee's final score has been adjusted to 18.15, and his placement has moved from 9 to 8. However, the composition of Men's B-team remains unchanged. Jason Liu's final score has been adjusted to 17.47 and he obtains spot on the C-team. Charles Hwong will still remain on the C-Team. The C-Team now consists of 6 people.

USAWKF apologize for the mistakes and the inconveniences it has caused.

The new rules required 3 groups of judges: A-judges were examining the Quality of Movements; B-judges were analyzing the Overall Performance of the athletes; C-judges were checking on the Difficult & Transition Movements. All judges were judging strictly according to the new rules and scoring methods established by International Wushu Federation (IWUF) as well as the regulations of the 8th World Wushu Championship.
