Dear Athletes, Parents and Friends,
First of all, let me on behalf of USAWKF and your behalf, once again thank Li Shudong and all his hard-working volunteers for a very excellent job in this year's Team Trials. Some of you have observed that we have made improvements this year, which I want to add that many of them were done with your suggestions. However, there are still areas that we can improve on. With your help and support, we hope to do even better next time.
Let me now express our sincere apologies to you for the mistakes made in the announcement of the USA Team placements. They were inadvertently caused by the application of the new rules, which have to balance between criteria for representations in the Five Categories and the performances of the athletes. When corrections were made later in the day, the results caused a lot of confusion. So it was decided to withhold the confirmation of the Team selections until a full review was conducted. I also want to thank the Results Review Committee members for their expertise and time spent on reviewing and finalizing the results.
I am happy to announce that the review is completed. The Results Review Committee Report is attached.
It is inevitable that there are some changes in the list, different from that first announced. We are very sorry to the athletes who are affected, and we hope that the coaches, parents and friends will help comfort them from their pain and disappointment.
In particular, I would like to add a special mention, as noted in the Report, that Claudine Tran's performance was easily of Team A standards, but most unfortunately the rules, such as they were, missed her out.
