USAWKF President's New Year Message
Dear USAWKF Members,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of USAWKF I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy Lunar New Year. As the Year of the Tiger arrives I think it is a good time to reflect on the successes of the past year and the possibilities for the year to come.

In 2010, there will be a wide-range of national and international events in which I encourage our members to actively participate. In July, USAWKF will host Junior Wushu team trials in San Jose, California. The 4th World  Traditional Wushu Championships will be held in Shiyan, Hubei Province, China in October, an event I hope more members take part in. Also in October, the 8th Pan-American Wushu Championships will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We will finish the year in December at the 3rd Junior Wushu Championships in Singapore, an event at which we have performed well in the past. USAWKF will assist any members who wish to participate in these events. For the latest information on these and other upcoming events please visit our website at: http://www.usawkf.com/enevts/index.php

This year we hope to build on USAWKF's successes during the past year. At the 10th World Wushu Championships in Toronto we had some of our best results at a world championship. Our athletes performed impressively and they earned our first ever gold and silver medals in taolu competition. I was very pleased with our performance and believe the results indicate that we have achieved a higher standard of Wushu in the United States. In the coming year, we will continue to work on improving our team selection process and management of events.

In the past year we also saw growing momentum for the sport of Wushu internationally. At the World Wushu Championships 17 new nations became members of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) to bring the total number of member-nations to 139.

All of the success and improvements in Wushu would not have been possible without the dedication of officials, volunteers, and members who have tirelessly contributed to advancing the sport. During the coming year I look forward to continue to work with all of you to promote and improve Wushu in the US and abroad.

Thank you for all of your efforts on behalf of USAWKF and best wishes to you and your family in the Year of the Tiger.

Sincerely,

Anthony Goh
President, USAWKF
